The New Chellis House is a strict first-class hotel offering surpassing meals and accommodations in the county. Travelers on stages will find it a convenient stop, with meals promptly served and board at reasonable rates. Located one date west of the telephone office, it provides good sample rooms for commercial men and public guests.

The Minnesota Sugar company loses its bid to collect beet sugar bounty as the state is not bound to pay the unconstitutional bounty. Judge Collins writes that beet production and sugar manufacture are private enterprises and not state affairs. Moral obligation cannot rest on legislation in violation of the constitution.
Sheriff Manley and deputies acting on District Judge Morgan’s instruction raided saloons in Wallace Wardner Burke and Mullan. They confiscated all gambling devices and seized two large loads of paraphernalia to be publicly burned or destroyed at Wallace.
New York Dee reports an unprecedented surge of children’s letters to Santa Claus. Letters arrive from across the country including Alaska, preserved and forwarded to the Washington dead letter office. The collection is expected to weigh at least a ton.
A man posing as Dr PF B Allen sold medicated soap on the street corner saying it cured numerous ailments. He bought cheap five cent bars, cut them into three, and hawked three for 25 cents. He paid $25 for selling without a license and $6.40 in court costs per the Idaho Falls Register.
