Sealed bids for 1908 County Poor care in Custer Idaho

The Board of County Commissioners of Custer County Idaho invites sealed bids by January 2 1908 for the care and maintenance of the indigent sick and dependent poor. Successful bidder must provide building or room for a county hospital and furnish food lodging medicines medical staff and attendants including jail care and burial of the dead with bonds up to double the bid. Challis eighth grade graduates held back by lack of high school

The Challis public school celebrated its eighth grade class of fifteen, listing names such as Jennie Baxter and William Ebberts. A postponed commencement led to a banquet and dance funded by Prof. Webber, while a critique urged practical education and warned graduates not to rely on diplomas alone.
