Bondsmen push Woodin case as Easter week notes fear
Last Sunday Easter week Boise Statesman reports sensational developments expected tomorrow in W A Woodin treasurer of Bingham county case. Since court judgment against Woodin and bondsmen for 34000 last week, bondsmen seek settlement paying about one fifth. D H Brethan of Blackfoot, another bondsman for 5000, urged Woodin to help settle and offer two years’ salary, but Woodin refused awaiting supreme court ruling. Brethan threatens arrest under an old statute on public money deposits. County funds were deposited in Bunting & Co bank, failed last year. If bondsmen pay, they face heavy loss, spurring efforts at settlement, likely to intimidate Woodin. The paper also urges daily mail service for Custer county and mocks religious and temperance views.
