Bogus Bank Bills Lead to City Jail Detention

Thomas OBrien is jailed on a misdemeanor charge after passing a counterfeit style bank bill from Merchants and Planters on A E Draper as payment for a room. The bill was one of several war era notes printed on one side and never issued by the Georgia bank. County Attorney Gray will file information, with trial to follow soon.

Report says relatives of Mme Anna Gould have reached an agreement to not object to her engagement to Prince De Sagan. Mrs George Gould is credited with diplomatic efforts while George Gould remains custodian of his sister's property.

Federal grand jury to convene in Pocatello for counterfeiting case

The April term of the U S court for the southern division of Idaho opens in Pocatello with grand and trial jurors drawn. The sole major matter is the Frank Shea counterfeiting case and liquor sales to Indians. Jury panels list 24 grand jurors and 24 trial jurors from across Idaho.

Eight Killed On Chicago Elevated Train Crash

A southbound South Side Elevated motor car derailed near Indiana Avenue station in Chicago. The front car struck a Prairie Avenue yard and caused severe injuries including fractured skulls to the motorman and conductor. numerous passengers were hurt as panic spread through the rear cars. The accident was blamed on the front car’s heavy motor casing breaking and lifting the trucks above the track.

Bloodhounds in Idaho search for missing man and boy

A search party using bloodhounds from the state penitentiary hunted the McCammon area for F. L. Royce and his six year old son who vanished Thursday morning after a hotel stay in McCammon. Royce, about 40, arrived from South Boise to inspect land with around $2500 on hand, leaving belongings behind. Authorities fear foul play and possible murder, with investigators focusing on the possibility the crime involved robbery and concealment.

Colorado deputy shot and killed near Trinidad

Trinidad Colo April 7 Deputy Sheriff Tony Shelby was shot and killed by an unknown man who leaped from a rig after approaching near his home. A posse pursued the suspect. Frank Cartanan, accused of the crime, was captured near Aguilar and jailed, claiming Shelby blocked him from chastising his son.

HSH Hogs Fined Fifty Dollars In Trout Seine Case

Four men from Tleary Hans Nielsen Jake Ball John Stoor and Abe Lederman were fined 50 each by Probate Judge T A Johnston after being found guilty of catching trout with a seine in Idaho. Deputies arrested them near Soda Springs and transported them to Fizz Water town for trial. A second offense would reach the law’s limit.

A San Francisco report states Standard Oil completes a deal totaling 45 million dollars to bring most gas, electric light and power companies of central and Northern California under its control.
