Paris reports the war office acknowledges German advances on the left bank of the Meuse. Strong assaults targeted Hill No. 304 and Avecourt woods last night, and after persistent efforts the Germans breached a fortified French position.
Berlin reports progress on the Meuse left bank as German forces attack Hill No 304 and push French troops back. The war office states an advance was made as positions were assaulted and retaken in the area.
San Antonio June 30 Mexican troops at Ojinata have not fired across the border nor attempted to cut Pershing's lines of communication in Mexico, Gen. Funston stated today. The report notes no hostilities or significant incursions by Carrancistas in the area as Pershing's expedition remains active.

Deming New Mexico June 30 four of the Mexican bandits from the Columbus raid were hanged this morning bringing the total executed to six in this area. Two more had been hanged earlier. The condemned went to the gallows bravely as the town faced the grim result of the crime.

Washington June 30 The plan to repeal a portion of the war stamp tax on July 1 has been abandoned. Officials cite developments in the Mexican situation requiring heavy expenditures next year as the reason for keeping the tax. Secretary McAdoo announced the change in the administration’s plan and noted the tax act, expiring December 31, will remain in effect.
A traffic petition circulated for signatures calls to repeal the ordinance that bans vehicle parking in the Main Street business district for up to thirty minutes. Cooperative effort by Route A farmers pledges support to Postmaster Beck to erect satisfactory mail boxes and relocate several placed in inconvenient spots. Beck inspected all boxes yesterday and advised moves. Rasthaven avenue residents have been slow to act, Beck noted.
Announcement from Ossining New York states the Twelfth Street bridge will open to traffic on July 4. It is the river’s only concrete crossing within the city and touted as handsome and substantial, with a possible dedicatory program planned. Oresto Shillitani, who escaped the death house last week after killing Keeper McCarthy and wounding two others, was electrocuted at Sing Sing this morning after declaring he was insane.
The finance committee asks citizens to send contributions to two newspapers and local banks for troopers passing through the city. No amount is too small. Every citizen should feel patriotic enough to help give the troopers a little treat while they stop on their way to the border.

Membership is limited to natives of Indiana with ancestors in the state before Dec 11, 1866. The group derives its name from The Hoosier s Nest poem by John Kn. It remains uncertain if a local Wayne County group will form though many expect Historic Wayne county to start one early.
A flag shortage alarm swept Richmond as demand for American flags surged for homes and businesses. Dealers received fresh supplies, easing the scarcity, with the city purchasing a 9 by 15 foot flag to fly over the city building.
Lieut ER Coppock retracts earlier harsh remarks about Richmond patriotism after visiting the local recruiting station today. He says his criticism was premature and he now praises community support and the station outreach.
