John Brown, a 37 year old colored man, pleaded guilty in circuit court to shooting his wife with intent to murder after an earlier suicide attempt. He will be sentenced Monday to state prison in Michigan City, with transfer likely by Wednesday or Thursday next week.
Up to date there have been fifty two arrests made by the police department for the month of June. Arrests were made on eighteen different charges including drunk and petit larceny. May had sixty five arrests, making June's total appear smaller unless the pattern changes.

George Davis of Jacksonburg was fined 325 and costs in circuit court by Judge Fox for assault and battery on Charles Rodenburg of East Germantown. The incident occurred last Saturday evening while Davis was intoxicated, and he pleaded guilty. Rodenburg testified he declined a loan request, then Davis struck him as they left a Cambridge City lodge meeting. Davis had previously stolen a horse from James A. Boyd, but the charge was dismissed after leniency shown, which prosecutors say has not helped Davis reform.
In June twenty two building permits were issued by the City Controller Par ty. Permit values ranged from 125 to 35600 dollars, marking a strong monetary total but a smaller permit count than May.
The West Second Street viaduct agreement is sent to General Superintendent R. E. McCarty for signature and then to Pittsburgh officials.
