Girl Hurt When Motorist Loses Control Of Car
Paul Jennings of Whitewater Indiana known as a baseball player lost control of a racing car while turning from Main street onto North Nineteenth street Wednesday evening. The car struck a fire hydrant, broke it off, and hit Miss Study 244 South Fourth street who stood with three other women waiting for a streetcar. Miss Study was thrown against a fence and suffered slight injuries, then was taken home by another vehicle. Jennings and the passenger were uninjured. The car was badly damaged, Jennings said a steering mechanism failed during the turn. Spectators said Jennings appeared to drive too fast for the turn, and Miss Study and her companions would likely have been killed or seriously injured if the hydrant had not been hit.
