Auto Demolished By Hitting Tree On Main Street
Late yesterday afternoon a small car driven by Ralph Spencer burst a rear tire at 35 mph on Main Street, skidded, and struck a tree near Oliver Gaar’s residence. Three occupants were injured. Johns was thrown from the car as the tank detached. Spencer and Lester Hunt were bruised. all injuries minor. The car, owned by Clifford Bevington, was wrecked beyond repair. Witnesses cited excessive speed. Spencer claimed a streetcar struck him.

Indiana Penal Farm Site Hopes To Open By 1914
Indiana State Farm Commission, appointed by Governor Ralston, held its first meeting to establish a penal farm of at least 600 acres with $60,000 for land. Dr. S. E. Smith was named president, G. A. H. Shideler vice president, W. H. Hart secretary, and Willis Hickam treasurer. The panel will seek varied topography, water and railroad access, and will inspect existing penal farms in Massachusetts, Ohio, Virginia, and Ontario as it plans state-wide operation with 1914 funding.

Moll Lewis an older offender was arrested last evening by Patrolman Wenger at the corner of West Fifth and Pearl streets. She was intoxicated and reclining on a bed of roses in a West Richmond resident’s front yard. After failing to pay a $1 fine and costs, Mayor Zimmerman remanded her to the Home for the Friendless for 11 days.

Earlham Commencement Honors Dean Perisho Address
The fifty-second Earlham commencement concluded with Dean Ellwood C Perisho delivering the keynote on "The College and the State." He urged graduates to apply youthful energy to conservation, industry, population distribution, and peace, stressing education for intelligent citizenship and voter responsibility. Forty-eight degrees were awarded including 32 BA, 15 BS, and one MA. honorary degrees granted to John Albert Thompson and Dean Perisho.
