U-Boat Surgeon Treats Wounded After Sinking
Washington June 16 Further details on the sinking of the Moreni by a German submarine June 12 arrive. A two hour fight left the tanker in flames, four crew lost, survivors rescued by a passing steamer. The U boat crew fired 200 shots at four nautical miles as the Petro oil crew fought back. the submarine surgeon treated the wounded. All Petro crew and naval gunners are accounted for and reported well.

Edward Larson Dies in Hagerstown Indiana
Edward Larson of South Pear street died at his home from heart leakage after an extended illness. Born in Richmond he lived most of his life in and near Hagerstown. He was a member of the M E church and leaves a widow and adopted son Donald, plus two brothers Henry of near Millville and John of Hagerstown. Funeral services will be held at the Methodist church Sunday.

Labor Council to Hold Mass Meeting on Giles Ramsey Case

City and county officials police end fire departments and an ambulance corps under Charles Twigg, plus Red Cross women, will march in Richmonds Red Cross parade Monday evening. About 3,723 Wayne County men registered for potential service are invited to join. The parade begins at Red Cross headquarters Ninth and A streets and proceeds to Fifth Main Fifteenth A, then back to the Red Cross rooms.
