The Indiana Public Utilities Commission announced the appraised value of the Light, Heat & Power gas plant, destroying dreams of 70 cent gas. Engineers established present value for rate scheduling, with the Richmond Light, Heat & Power holdings listed and continued on page twelve.
Washington June 15 The White House today stifled hopes that President Wilson would travel to the capitol to accept the Democratic nomination and deliver a speech on current issues, casting doubt on his personal appearance at the convention.
Two American soldiers were killed and seven wounded in an early morning attack near St Igno as a band of 160 Mexican attackers engaged Troops and M of the Fourteenth Cavalry. The raid began at about 2 o clock. Six Mexicans were killed in the battle.
Mrs Margaret Tiernan of 806 North I Street learned her son William Tiernan theatrical costumer died April 7 in Knickerbocker Hospital New York after being admitted the day before. The body was buried in New York City cemetery.

New York June 15 Colonel Theodore Roosevelt rested peacefully after an X-ray examination. Doctors will report his condition after reviewing the X-ray plate. Ruth Kelsey daughter of Mr and Mrs Mead A Kelsey has accepted the assistant principalship at Southland College Arkansas for the next school year.
Henry Witte a German war veteran and longtime Richmond resident dies at his Greenwood Heights home at 2 15 PM Wednesday from Brights disease. Born October 3 1840 in Germany he came to the U S forty nine years ago and to Richmond thirty four years ago. He worked at the Gaar Scott plant for thirty three years and was active in Militaerverein and St Andrews church societies. Continued on page seven.
Washington report notes Secretary of State Lansing met with President Wilson at the White House for fifteen minutes to discuss Mexico. Lansing admitted the subject was Mexico but declined to reveal any details of the talk.
General Field Quarters Namimipa Mex Ameri can troops yesterday captured Lujan, Villista lieutenant and a Columbus raid leader. The Mexican was taken at Paphaunes Hauienza, thirty five miles southwest of Namigipa, by Troop M of the Thir teenth cavalry under Captain F G Turner.
Three suffrage groups press their case before the Democratic platform committee. They warn the party that 91 electoral votes across 12 states hinge on 6.7 percent of the voting population. The groups offer a potential windfall for the party or a threat to topple Western support if unmet.
Indianapolis June 15 Chairman Thomas Duncan of the public service commission after a Richmond chamber conference gave no hope to residents seeking to block a sprinkler service charge on Richmond manufacturers. Michael Kelly, former Arlington restaurant owner, was declared bankrupt in federal court in Indianapolis yesterday with assets listed at 268 dollars and liabilities at 1144 dollars.

A Richmond man Wilmer A. Stamer sued Alfred C. Underhill over a deed transfer. The Henry circuit court case was compromised at New Castle on the eve of hearing after two venue changes. Judge Gause dismissed a related criminal charge against Underhill. Underhill plans to file a Supreme Court appeal within a week. Costs exceed 450 and may reach 1500.
San Francisco June 15 all of the one hundred passengers and crew of eighty men on the steamer Bear which went ashore on Blounts Bd early today in a dense 18 are believed to have been saved.
