The Democratic national convention will name Woodrow Wilson for president and Thomas Riley Marshall of Indiana for vice president with Wilson’s consent. Indiana’s Marshall is favored to secure renomination, despite Old Guard opposition.
Two major suffrage groups press for action at the Democratic national convention. The Woman's Party seeks immediate congressional passage of the Susan B Anthony amendment. The NAWSA wants a platform plank endorsing women's suffrage. Leaders remain optimistic despite Democratic resistance.
Senator Gore of Oklahoma volunteers as a campaigner for the Democracy this fall. He urges party managers to send their best speakers to Indiana and says he wants to address Richmond and Fort Wayne. He notes Indiana as the prize and predicts a red-hot contest to keep Kern and Taggart in the senate and win Wilson’s electoral vote.
Pennsylvania train No. 503 bound for Richmond struck an automobile at Mosters this morning. Driver John Wagoner, alone in the car, tried to cross after the train signaled, was killed instantly. The coroner found the train crew not responsible.
Secretary of State Lansing told the Senate that the State Department would act promptly to protect American lives and property in the Ireland revolution zone. He added that he hoped few Americans were in danger in response to Senator Kern’s inquiry.

A Pershing radiogram dated June 12 reports twenty Thirteenth Cavalrymen under Captain Otto Redhorse killed or dispersed the largest surviving Villa group in Chihuahua at daybreak June 9, near Santa Clara twenty miles north. The Americans, unharmed, seized horses rifles and ammunition as the band of over twenty men fled on foot into brush after a nightlong pursuit.
Resolutions aimed at discouraging school military training will be presented to the Richmond school board president by Prof. Edwin P. Trueblood. Adopted at the West Richmond Friends' church monthly meeting, they outline educational objections and reasons against such training.
The Richmond Commercial Club approves a plan to create a company with no capital stock to promote industrial and business growth. It will purchase or obtain real estate for development, fund operations by voluntary subscriptions totaling 100000 dollars, and issue one vote per ten dollars subscribed. He said no plans exist to fight for specific planks on peace preparedness or prohibition, and he does not intend to seek a delegate proxy to speak at the convention. Earlham college presented As You Like It on Chase stage last night to strong acclaim. Miss Mary Ann Dickinson as Rosalind drew praise for refined interpretation and sympathetic acting, with costumes and rustic staging enhancing the pastoral mood.
Workmen scrub the white facade of the Second National bank building for a full wash after five years. Previously only parts of the tile exterior were cleaned, as soap and water restore the structure to a like new appearance.

She lost consciousness, was taken home, and a physician declared the injury major though no flesh was destroyed. All skin from the hand reportedly peeled. she endures great pain today. This marks the first accidental injury at the plant, and management cannot explain how it occurred given the roller’s slow movement.
