Eaton Ohio June 10 Superintendent Forrest B Bryant of Eaton schools will not accept re employment by the board of education after petitions and meetings in his support. He cites opposition from a few faculty members and believes continuing would harm the school. The board re employed teachers and Bryant three years into his tenure.
Street Commissioner Gonn reports most alleys cleaned except those from Nineteenth Street west to the river and Main to the railroad. He notes this is the first weed cutting effort in four years and urges residents to provide waste boxes and keep alleys clear for the rest of the year.
Reports from Berlin say more than forty people were killed by powerful electrical storms sweeping Germany and Russia. The war department ordered maneuvers halted until passage of the storms. Crop damage rises, with losses likely exceeding one million dollars, affecting the Rhine country most as several houses are struck by lightning.
Col Theodore Roosevelt sailed from Southampton to New York aboard the Kaiserin Victoria amid cheers and bands. Fred R. Blee died when his car crashed through the gate of the Superior avenue viaduct and plunged about fifty feet to rocks below. Guard John Wanstall suffered two broken legs after being entangled in the wreckage and was taken to a hospital. Blee was alone. another car reportedly raced toward the center of town before the drawbridge gate malfunction. Police seek the other driver.
American News Service reports a lone desperado robbed passengers on El Paso & Western train No. 2 last night. The train halted one mile east of Robsort near Garrison. Passengers were robbed in Supt. G F Hawk's private car before the bandit fled toward the mountains.
Township official James Howarth reports a cow owned by Albert Hill of East Richmond was bitten by a mad dog that already bit seven cows of BE L Commons. The cow must be killed due to hydrophobia symptoms. its appraised value is $75.
Township trustees decided at yesterday's meeting to hold the annual picnic at Glen Miller park, selecting late July or early August. Arrangements will be finalized at the regular July meeting.
A syndicate led by Ashley of Westcott Motor Car Company has secured options on about two thirds of Richmond Natural Gas Company stock. Payment planned at five cents on the dollar with July 1 option deadline. Rumors point to control by the West Virginia and Southern Ohio gas fields group, potentially backed by Standard Oil. Goal is to ensure Richmond a fuel supply and imminent 16 inch pipeline from Hamilton to Richmond.

First on the list is former President Roosevelt who is expected to preside in Washington in the early fall.
