Clever Forger Evades Police Dragnet In Racketeering Case
A notorious forger known as D. E. Stone eluded a citywide dragnet after attempts to cash forged checks at Reed hardware Laken drug and A G Laken drug stores. He was spotted near Muth saloon Fifth and Malin Street but officers made no arrest as Stone slipped away. He later claimed property and a farm, then tried another forged check at Laken store.
