Negro Found Dead Beside Highway Near Jamestown

A man identified as John Headen, a resident of Groometown road, was discovered dying along the Jamestown highway Sunday at 2:30 AM by Earle Coltrane who alerted county authorities. He died at the scene, believed to be run over by a heavy auto. Investigators say the chest was crushed and scattered clues included a few provisions and two to three dollars found on the man.

Visit to the Country by Doc Dodson Family

The editor and family enjoyed a Sunday at Mr. and Mrs. Doc Dodson near McLeansville a fine country home. Mr. Dodson produced nearly 1,000 pounds of honey from eight patent guns. He also has a fine orchard and good crops.

Funeral for Wesley Memorial member Miss Lillie Tulloch

Miss Lillie Tulloch died Saturday and funeral services were held Sunday at 4 PM from Wesley Memorial church. Rev. G T Rowe and Rev. J M Hilliard officiated with the Daughters of Zion and Sons of Liberty in charge at the grave. The church was filled with friends.

George Lowe underwent surgery for appendicitis at the local hospital on Friday. Attorney Dallas Zollicoffer suffered appendicitis Friday. Miss Jewel Pickett is recovering well after an appendectomy. Saturday afternoon the Bagby Property known as the Imperial hotel on South Main street sold by order of Trustee Cook with E H C Field bidding in at 22000. The property was valued much higher and considered a bargain for Field who is praised for securing the asset.

Merchants Hold Interest Meeting at East Washington Armory

Merchants and friends gathered Tuesday night at the East Washington street armory for a "get-together night." Thos J Gold spoke on topics of strong merchant interest, introduced by Geo T Woods, with Secretary Prince adding remarks on duties to the Association. Cigar ice cream and cake followed as the High Point band played, and organizers expect continued benefit from these social sessions.
