Tragedy Enacted At Hopewell Victim Ken Curlee Dies
Word reached here Tuesday afternoon of Ken Curlee's death at Hopewell after an altercation in which another man struck him on the head. The killer was arrested. Curlee was the son of Mrs. Carlee and is survived by two sisters and a brother. Interment was planned for 8 o'clock this afternoon from the family home.

Strife Ends in Death After City Incident
Through Will L. Smith the family learns the facts: Monday afternoon Clyde Curbet became engaged in a controversy with two men William Terry and R. N. Badley, both in Henrico county. Curbet was struck, an operation by Dr. Perry followed, and he died. Deceased was 21 years old. Rev. C P Coble presides at the funeral at three from the house. Clyde Curbet of Birmingham cannot attend.

Aged citizen John Fields dies in Guilford County
John Fields aged 89, one of the county's oldest men, died Saturday night at his home about 12 miles south of Greensboro. He is survived by two brothers and three sisters. Funeral and interment were held at Bethlehem Methodist Church with Rev. C. F. Sherrill officiating.

Death of 26 year old Oscar Goodman
Oscar Goodman aged 26 died Sunday night at his South Main Street home from tuberculosis. He is survived by his father and mother Mr. and Mrs. James Goodman, four brothers and one sister. Funeral services were held Monday at 3 p.m. from the home conducted by Rev. A G Dixon. Interment was made at Springfield.

The High Point camp No. 1682 Confederate Veterans met at headquarters on Saturday afternoon. The main business was the annual election of officers for the coming year, with only one change: John Little replacing Robert Gamboe as first lieutenant. Officers elected were Thomas J. Wood commander, John Little first lieutenant, A H Samuels second lieutenant, C C Jones lieutenant, B P Hutchens color bearer, H Lewis first color guard, Ax We Samuels second color guard, A M Idol adjutant and treasurer, J M Hilliard chaplain, Miss T Irvin Paylor corresponding secretary. A committee then escorted the sponsor to headquarters, speeches followed, and reports on the Wilmington reunion. Afternoon refreshments at the Candy Kitchen concluded the day with full attendance.

Recorder's Court Fines Man for Lamp Assault
Arthur Holmes, colored, was fined $10 and costs and sentenced to six months on the road for assaulting his wife with a lamp. The defendant appealed, claiming intoxication, and the court said a road sentence may be suspended if he behaves and walks straight in the future.

The Baptist Association met at Wallburg last week and closed Wednesday. Mrs. R. M. Clodfelter called on Mrs. Motsinger who is recovering after an operation.
