Aged Citizen Willis L Brower Died At 78

Willis L Brower aged 78 died Friday morning at his High Point home on High street He was born in Randolph county and lived in the city for nearly 50 years He conducted the Brower house near the site of the present post office building Surviving is one son Edward Brower merchant Funeral services were held Saturday at the residence with Rev A G Dixon of the M P church officiating and the interment followed beside his wife in the local cemetery

Wild coon hunt ends with a 20 pound prize

Whiskey Seized at Gus Browns in October Bust

Police nabbed alcohol and paraphernalia at Gus Browns known as L A Brown this Saturday morning. They seized two gallons of liquor two pint bottles and 30 bottles of beer along with two small glasses as evidence. Brown posted 300 bond for Monday court appearance awaiting Friday postponement per the defendant’s lawyer.

City Council Advances Gear For Streets Fire Dept

The city council decided to buy a two ton motor truck for street repair work and approve equipment for the fire department including 27 hats 7 coats and 21 pairs of boots. It enforces fire limits repairs on wooden buildings with a $100 penalty. The city manager is authorized to swap the 50 foot fire ladder for two 30 foot ladders and to pay the October city school bill of $2579.16.

Death of Joseph Mitchell Near Mitchells Chapel

Joseph Mitchell died Friday afternoon at his country home near Mitchells Chapel. Born in England in 1862 he immigrated to the United States and lived a long useful life. He passed in his 79th year. funeral and burial were held at Mitchells Chapel. He is survived by his wife and one daughter.
