Building Contracts Report on Local Residences

Fire destroys High Point Motor Co. car on highway

A Moline auto belonging to the High Point Motor Co. burned Thursday night on the Greensboro High Point highway. Everything but the iron framing was destroyed. The car had been sent to pull in a disabled Ford. Cause of ignition is not known.

Cars Crash Near Here on Highway Collision

The J. H. Shaw car collided with a Ford about eight miles away on Thursday night on the main highway. The Henry car turned turtle with broken glass injuring some occupants while the Shaw car sustained the least damage and its occupants were unharmed.

Death of Ham Lindsay at 63 in High Point

A. H. Lindsay known as Ham Lindsay died after a long illness at age 63. He moved to High Point 41 years ago to run a mercantile business but had lived retired for 23 years. Funeral services are set for Wednesday afternoon conducted by Rev Gilbert T. Rowe. Survived by one sister Mrs. Julius C. Fuller of Randolph County and many nieces and nephews including W. C. Jones R. Jones John A. Lindsay Mrs. Berta L. Carraway and Mrs. W. C. Beavans. His death mourned by friends and acquaintances.

Welch Purchases 65 Acre Farm Near Fairgrounds

J C Welch of High Point bought the 65 acre King Armfield farm west of the fair grounds for 7600 dollars. A crowd attended the sale held Monday with about a score of small tracts sold averaging around 1000 dollars each, totaling near 30000 dollars.

Herbert Greater Shows At North Main Park Thrills High Point

The Herbert Greater Shows, the largest pest amusement aggregation, play this week at North Main street ball park under local firemen auspices. Manager Herbert runs a clean, popular act with free attractions twice daily and proceeds benefiting volunteer firefighters. Joseph D. Wall, formerly of Matton Drug, died Sunday in Randleman at 24.

Rail Line Bond Revote Sought to Extend Carolina and Yadkin Rail

Bird S Coler asks High Point township for a revote on a 25100 bond issue to extend the Carolina and Yadkin River railway toward Troy or Mt. Gilead to connect with Norfolk Southern. A 1912 vote authorized 50000, with half due on reaching High Rock and half on trunk-line connection by January 1 1915. The time limit lapsed, leaving 25000 unavailable. Car Tumbles on Greensboro Road Injures Two Slightly

Sunday night a roadster carrying R. R. Ragan and Mrs. Henri C. Turner turned turtle on a Greensboro road after a frightened horse caused Mr. Ragan to brake and the car to skid. Both occupants escaped with slight injuries.

Attempt to Break Jail Leads to Arrests and Fines

Ellis McMillan a city jail inmate received three laws from cousin Tyson McMillan during a visit. He told Red Allen a volunteer prisoner who helped enforce the roads sentence. Tyson was fined 10 dollars and costs and Ellis five dollars and costs for a prior assault with bond forfeiture.
