A CLEAN CITY Woman Health Officer Appointed on Trial

At a City Council meeting on Friday night, local women petitioned for a woman health officer. Mrs. R. C. Soyars was appointed on a sixty day trial at fifty dollars a month. She will visit Winston to study the sanitary inspector there. The meeting also referred compulsory school attendance to the county board of education. Salaries for the colored school's principal and an additional teacher were raised. Lights were ordered free for the night school.

Citywide religious revival urged as two weeks of meetings begin

Pastors announce a citywide revival starting next Sunday with simultaneous services across nearly all churches at 7 30 pm for two weeks. Attendance is urged as a gauge of local religious life and guests are encouraged to bring others. Fire Prevention Day Planned with School and Fire Dept Demonstration

Fire Prevention Day will be observed by the schools and the fire department which will make a demonstration in the afternoon on South Main street. The various buildings in the fire limits will be inspected also.

Pythians from High Point traveled to Lodge No. 80 in Greensboro for four High Point candidates in knighthood, with Past Grand Chancellor Mc Lean presiding. Speeches followed as Mayor Murphy and local leaders praised fraternal bonds, ending with a fine banquet and smoker.

Rally Day events were held at several churches including First Reformed Sunday School observing next Sunday and Presbyterian and Baptist hosts observing Sunday morning. Superintendent Haynes spoke at First Baptist before Sunday School classes highlighting the tally day observance.

Baptizing at Rich Fork Sunday Draws Large Crowd

A baptizing service at Rich Fork Sunday evening drew a large congregation where Brother Ara mic preached an excellent sermon. Mr. George Canard of High Point attended with his family. Elmer Warg fell and broke his leg but is recovering. Walter Beck and wife enjoy twins at home, a girl and a boy. Mr. Lowdersfilk and family dined at his Greensboro camp last Sunday.
