Review to Broadcast Election Returns on Main Street

The Review plans a large moving picture style display on election night next Tuesday across from the Rose Theatre. An experienced operator will flash live results from the wires onto a canvas sign atop the Dr Staley building while telegraph and telephone links extend coverage to nearby counties. Citizens are invited to view the rapid reports as they come in, a service the paper previously pioneered in 1912.

Robert Brockett, GOP representative from Godford County, vows to back two Democrats Carter Dalton and W C Jones while voting Republican for W F Ragan and E Spencer. Death of Clarence York in the dye related illness

The Review expresses sympathy to Mr and Mrs O R York over the death of eight year old Clarence from blood poisoning caused by shoe dye contacting a sore on his ankle. Funeral services were held Tuesday from the West Green Street home and the remains were taken to Franklinville for interment. Henry Clay Kearns Jr of this city will wed Miss Julia Laura Sinclair of Marion next month. The bride is sister of May Carson Sinclair and the groom is a High Point business man.

Young Lady Hurt Becomes a Heroine

Miss Helen Brockett sustained injuries Monday evening on Morris street when her car lurching in low gear ran over her as she attempted to crank it. She steered to miss a child, but the car ploughed through a fence and rested at Rev. W. L. Mellichampe’s home. a three inch cut and bruises were the injuries. Brockett displayed calm bravery in guiding the car away from danger and saving the child.

Family dispute ends in trio fined in court

S R McDowell Sr and R W Thompson fought over rocks thrown at the McDowell house. McDowell Jr joined the fray and all three appeared in court Friday, each paying a $12.50 fine plus costs. Thompson is McDowell Sr's son in law. Mrs. John N. Tate visits relatives in Newton.
