Sunday School Workers at High Point Township Convention

The High Point Township Sunday school convention met in the auditorium Sunday night with Rev. J. M. Broughton Jr addressing the audience. An interesting business and musical program followed, and a large crowd attended. The next meeting will be held within the township before the State meeting.

May 22 Register Deadline for County Bond Election

One week remains to register for the county bond election with Saturday May 22 as the final day. Thacker shoe store front is being updated to improve appearance. High Point is praised and May flowers are hoped from late spring. Confederate graves were decorated Tuesday afternoon by the Children of the Confederacy.

Baptists Reach 2.5 Million Members Across the South

Delegates from across the South gather in Houston for the Southern Baptist convention and the Woman's Missionary Union. W. L. Masters reports about 2,500,000 members, a gain of 63,970 since the last meeting, with mission expenditures. The record lists 34 mountain schools with 5,281 pupils and 25,000 churches in the territory, including 20,000 rural churches and 18,000 with monthly services, plus 3,500 houseless churches and 16,200 leaders not living in their church communities.
