Speakers chosen at Mechanicsville preliminaries

Loyal Citizens Gather for Patriotic Mass Meeting

High Point residents packed the auditorium and gallery Sunday for a patriotic mass meeting praising America and denouncing German sympathizers. Rev James A Clarke spoke for an hour on liberty and democracy while the audience heard strong anti Kaiser sentiment and calls for ongoing organization and support. A 21-member committee was appointed to organize further meetings at the Commercial club that night. The report notes Allied lines hold on the western front and a German gun near Paris is likely out of service.

Soldiers Attend Passover Observance in Charlotte Camp Greene

Thirty five Jewish soldiers from Camp Greene in Charlotte arrived yesterday to stay until Friday noon and observe the first two days of Passover. They were hosted by local Jewish families. Additional 75 were sent to Greensboro and 100 to Winston to participate, arranged by the Jewish Board of Relief of Camp Greene with field secretary Mr. Seligman.
