Tragic Guilford County double tragedy ends in seven deaths

D G Patterson of Greensboro shot and killed his four children Louise 16 and Cowles 7 Frances 9 Gordon 11 and then killed himself. The infant and two older children were found fatal, with Gordon dying en route to hospital and Frances dying soon after. The motive appeared tied to work troubles and financial distress. The event described as the most horrible tragedy in Guilford county’s history, with Patterson leaving a last will designating guardian for any surviving children.

Passing of Well Known Citizen Herndon

William C Herndon of High Point dies after weeks with Brights disease at his Willowbrook home. Born in Wake County in 1851, he worked 27 years with Snow Lumber Co and served as an elder of First Presbyterian Church. He leaves three sons, a wife, and several siblings, with funeral held Wednesday at 2 30 from the Presbyterian church.

Oak Hill School hosts county contest with multiple winners

Citywide revival planned by High Point churches

Beginning Sunday June 4 the churches of High Point unite for a two week evangelistic crusade with Rev William Black of Charlotte preaching. Meetings will be held in a big tent likely on South Main Street School grounds and a preparatory service will precede the events by the churches.
