Memorial meeting for Confederate veteran McPherson recalled

The High Point Camp No. 1682 United Confederate Veterans held a memorial session at Camp headquarters. Speakers praised Comrade Alexander McPherson and urged readiness for the final call. Delegates to the Birmingham reunion were elected and a burial in Confederate uniform noted for James S. Tanner of Wilson.

Grant of new restaurant license on South Main street

The city granted a license to Gus Brown and Tom Wagner to operate a restaurant in the old R. W. Gray stand on South Main street. Brown's prior license was revoked after a whiskey seizure on Commerce street, but the Council decided to give him another chance.

Mrs. Ed Daniels Dies at 34 in Grimes Street Home

Mrs. Maude Daniels wife of Ed P Daniels died at her Grimes street home Monday. Funeral services were held at the house Wednesday by Rev. F L Fiddler. Survived by husband and five children. A member of West End Baptist church. Interment in Oakwood cemetery.

Woman Wins Suit Over Fake 1914 Marriage to Hinshaw

Mrs K O Saunders sued the estate of W W Hinshaw thru administrator W H Ragan and was awarded 422 in superior court. She claimed a 1914 marriage was fake after Hinshaw died finding a living wife. She testified she loaned money and worked hard to earn income.

National Officer Visits MaCabees Lodge in North Carolina

Randolph Man Dies in Texas

The remains of Prof. Joseph G. Coltrane who died in San Antonio were brought to Ebeneezer Randolph County for interment. Born in 1852 in Randolph, educated at Trinity, he moved to Texas in 1878. Sister Mrs. 8. S. Eldridge of High Point. Rev. Sylvester Newlin of the Friends church led funeral services.

Drs. McCain and Coe were allowed ten dollars each for expert witness services in the Jones case against the city of High Point in Superior Court.
