Longtime High Point resident Joe F Hoffman died at his South Main Street home after several days illness. Born in 1842 in Chester County Pennsylvania he lived in the community for decades and served as Chief of Police for 15 years. Survived by two children Harry Hoffman and Mrs Will Elliott and seven grandchildren, his will valued the estate at 25 000 to 30 000 dollars with executors David Parsons and Joe Hoffman Jr. A large funeral was held at South Main Street M E Church with many family, fraternal and veterans representatives in attendance.
