Better Streets Discussed By Greensboro Mayor

Mayor T. J. Murphy spoke to a small audience at the auditorium Monday night about improving streets. He praised his road advocacy and noted High Point favors improvements but called current conditions very indifferent.

The Missionary Societies of the Greensboro District in the Western North Carolina Conference met in session at Wesley Memorial M E Church on Tuesday and Wednesday with about 50 delegates attending. The gathering was described as interesting and profitable.

Aged Confederate Vet Blair Dies at Home on Philips Street

Joseph F. Blair, aged about 75, died Friday morning at his Philips street home. Funeral services were held Saturday from the house, conducted by Reys Sylvester Newlin and H G Kopen haver, with interment in Oakwood cemetery. He served four years in the Confederate Army and never was scratched. Blair belonged to Company A 10th battalion NC artillery and High Point Camp No 1682 UCV. Seven children survive: Wesley Edward Carson Erastus Canady Dora Gurley Gertie Livengood Florence Murphy and Bula Blair.

First Electric Car Runs Between High Point and Thomasville

The first storage battery electric car ran yesterday between High Point and Thomasville. Service uses a heavy roomy vehicle with 30 minute intervals and a fare of 15 cents. Six round trips are operated daily.
