Work for the night is reward of $275 offered for Cameron

Former High Pointer Vaughn Carson Killed in France

Word reaches here that Vaughn Carson, a marine on shore duty in France, was killed in an automobile accident. Carson, a printer by trade previously worked for J. J Farriss and was well known to the local editor who notes the sorrow of his loss.

W. H. Dugdale of The Review departs for Newport News Virginia to establish a new home. He pledges to continue contributing his weekly articles, a move readers welcome though they regret bidding farewell to a valued correspondent.

Odd Fellows Singers to Perform at Reformed Church

The Odd Fellows singing class will present a concert at the Reformed church Friday night June 21 at 7 30. Admission is free. J W York and Dennis Fields from Randolph county were arrested in Greensboro for draft registration fraud and released on 300 bond each for trial. Dr M A Bowers of Thomasville has been commissioned captain in the medical reserve corps. Secretary McAdoo has a bad threat and is ordered to recuperate on a ranch. The draft age may rise to 18 to 45 as Congress mulls broader coverage.

Half-Holiday Observed by Main Street Merchants

Main Street drygoods stores shut Wednesday afternoons for the summer half-holiday with 95 percent participation to aid war gardens and other work. Most grocery firms also closed though a few resisted for nickel-margin reasons. Other stores aside from Main Street followed suit.
