Notable Stamey family reunion honors long life

Sunday, June 13 marked the 86th anniversary of Mrs Belzorah Stamey widow of Rev Alex Stamey and mother of five ministers. She has 11 children 86 grandchildren 106 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren born July 18 1829 in Lincoln County North Carolina. The piece also praises Mr M Irwin Dunlap memorial tribute to President McKinley and highlights patriotic themes and family lineage.

County Buys Two Two Ton Auto Trucks for Roads

County commissioners placed an order with Mr. E F Craven for two auto trucks of two ton capacity to support road work. Each truck costs 2050 dollars and delivery is expected within two to three weeks. Craven won the contract in a competitive process against several factories.

Grandma Stamey’s Long Life Remembered At Family Gathering

At a family table W L Stamey toasted long life and happiness. Grandmother Stamey, despite age, remains active with ten grey hairs in jet black hair. She recalls the Mexican and civil wars and facts about the Morrison family and Mrs Stonewall Jackson. The Morrison father was by Rev Alex Stamey’s father at his death. The day was pleasant and memorable.

Children’s Day exercises at Mechanicsville M P church drew a local crowd last Sunday night. Ruth Lowe, recently ill, is reportedly improving. Delphia Payne spent an evening with Miss Berta Cook. The Kirkmans suffer from colds but hope to recover soon. Wheat threshing and chicken pie soon, while wedding invitations for Charlie Burns and Floyd Kirkman will arrive. J M Smith, unwell for some time, travels to his father’s mountain home to build a house as health improves. Ruth Magdalene Hughes remains unwell but is hoped to recover soon.
