High Point City Council Sets Budget and Code Steps

The council, Tuesday night, agreed to study a $2000 yearly library cost via the Woman's Club and Clara Cox, with no tax rise. They ordered road work on Louise avenue, investigated a $100 damage suit against the city, enforced speeding and muffler laws, examined water-rate issues for out-of-town users, planned a desk sergeant for police, and sought bids to uniform the police. Secretary Baker spoke at Chapel Hill on a forecasted long conflict for the United States.
