Jamestown High Finishes Year With Commencement Events

Jamestown high school wrapped its final year in the county with a Saturday music recital ending a week of activities. Rev. A Lambeth of Reidsville delivered the Sunday sermon at 3 30 p m. Monday featured a campus elementary show and a 6 p m debate. Wednesday held commencement at 10 a m with seven girls and six boys earning certificates. The address was given by Elbr E Knight of Trinity College.

Trip to the Rendezvous of the Boy Scouts

Sunday afternoon the editor visited the Boy Scouts of High Point and America on Carraway mountain in Randolph county. The camp featured dozen tents, a scout wagon donated by A. T. Wishart, and a busy kitchen preparing chicken dumplings for the evening meal. Scout Master Marr maintains good order as boys enjoy swimming, fishing, and social visits with home folk. Carlton Kirkman earns the nickname snake charmer for handling a large king snake.

Terrific Electrical Storm Levels Local Damage

Henderson homes were struck by lightning, furniture damaged, and one room ruined. A tent on South Main school grounds was damaged and services moved indoors due to heat with Evangelist Black expected next week.
