Ten-year-old Welborn Killed In Trinity Shooting Accident
A 10 year old boy, Robert Shelby Welborn, died instantly when a shotgun discharged as it struck the floor while three boys played. Miss Annie Jones eldest daughter of Sheriff and Mrs B A Jones of Greensboro died in a Charlotte hospital Sunday after a criminal operation. David Matthews received a four month road sentence in Recorder's court for vagrancy and cruelty to animals. He lived with his wife and child on Redding street in a bare home with little food and a sick mother horse that died from starvation. Hell Kettles Destroyed In Raid Near High Point
A Sunday night raid on two 20 and 60 gallon hell kettles three miles from High Point near Providence church exposed the operation. Chief Gray Deputy James and officers Welch and Carroll led the raid, based on a prior tip. A cut by Deputy James on Gray’s hand occurred during dismantling.
