Reward Offered for False Fire Alarms in High Point

The City of High Point offers a $2,500 reward for the arrest and conviction of anyone responsible for turning in false fire alarms. Mayor Fred N. Tate urges citizens to aid in stopping this dangerous and costly practice. Also notes delays at Chautauqua due to a wreck and tent setup.

Over $2,000 Prizes in High Point Voting Contest

The Review announces a free voting contest offering prizes including a Studebaker or Buick valued up to $1,050, a cash option, a building lot, a diamond, scholarships, watches, jewelry, and Kodak cameras. Open to all, contest ends Sept 30 with extensive vote schedules for subscriptions and clubs.

Frank Dixon at the Chautauqua Adds Insightful Town Survey

The Chautauqua talk by Frank Dixon on the social survey of a town drew a well attended crowd in High Point. He linked health education morality and business to town vitality and urged merchants to advertise during The Review Contest led by Lindley from Raleigh who promises strong visibility for High Point readers. A false fire alarm and a June 24 marriage of Junius Burton and Ethel Han non are noted along with local events and promotions.

City Sprinkling Service Up for Monthly Fees

Notice to residents and businesses on streets with sprinkling wagons. Due to doubled costs the city requires a minimum one cent per month per property starting July. Officer Wood will collect at the first of each month and enforce service suspension for nonpayment. Mayor Frep N Tate signed June 25 1924.

Auto Owners Urged to Renew City License Tax

The notice warns all auto owners and drivers to renew the city license tax of 1.00 per year before July 1. The City Collector lists liable individuals and penalties apply to those who neglect the matter by 7:00 PM in June. Police will enforce the requirement.

Double Tracking Atlanta to Washington Line

Southern Railway aims to build a 649 mile double track from Washington to Atlanta within five years. President Harrison arranged financing for this South wide project. Funds come from a $20 million bond issue by the Atlanta and Charlotte Air Line Railway Company approved by the Georgia Railroad Commission.

M P Conference in Session at High Point

The Methodist Protestant church North Carolina conference met at the Children's Home near High Point from Monday through Thursday July 2 with three daily sessions. Officers include Rev. R M Andrews president and Rev. T M Johnson vice president. The program featured many speakers on religious topics and community matters. The new auto fire truck was tested by Mayor F N Tate. W F Wright mourns death of his mother Hulda Luzena Wright aged 48.

North Carolina Editors Conclude Pleasant Wrightsville Beach Meet

The North Carolina editors gathered at Wrightsville Beach hosted by Wilmington press. A Dutch supper at Oceanic hotel, an auto tour near Wilmington, a Lumina dance, a Steamer Wilmington trip to Southport, and a Quarantine station visit marked the week. W. C. Hammer was elected president, with Bion H. Butler as 1st vice president and J. B. Sherrill as secretary-treasurer.
