Meeting of Veterans Saturday Brisk Despite Bad Weather

The meeting drew a good turnout despite inclement weather. Veterans recalled holidays and birthday anniversaries of Generals Lee and Jackson. Mrs. H C Field joined sponsor Miss Taylor to serve coffee, and attendees toured a new gas range in the camp kitchenette.

Up-to-Date Highland Cotton Mills Tour

The editor toured Highland Cotton Mills with Mr. Honeycutt and others, noting modern equipment and precise systems from electric fire fighting to finishing machines. The mill, at 9000 spindle capacity now, plans growth with a new office building and packing rooms. Output is about 10,000 pounds of thread daily, with 75 cottages housing workers and families.

Rural Route News Briefs From Thomasville

Cletus Bodenhamer’s horse died after a playful head motion that caused a broken neck on Saturday and death Sunday. Grandma David Welborn on Rt. 1 Thomasville slipped on ice and was badly hurt but no bones broken. John Welborn on Rt. 1 Thomasville was kicked by a horse, grazing his face and shoulder with no fractures. Fred C Craven of Rt. 1 Thomasville called at The Review office yesterday after concern.

Death of Mrs D H Allenberry at 63 on Centennial Ave

Mrs D H Allenberry aged 63 died at her Centennial Avenue home Monday night from asthma after years of illness. Funeral services were held at her home yesterday afternoon conducted by Rev Gilbert Rowe and Rev J M Hilliard. Interment in Oakwood cemetery. Alson Cecil of western Guilford died yesterday at his High Point area residence in his 76th year. He was the father of Abner Cecil and was well and favorably known in the community.

Court records show thefts and trespass rulings in city cases

In City Court Chris Welch was charged with stealing the entire morphine supply from Matton Drug Co through forcible trespass and given 60 days in jail with workhouse transfer if advised. G L Hagan was found guilty on one case and judgment suspended upon paying all checks and costs. Geo Bennett convicted of forcible trespass with suspended judgment on half costs and returning a pig. Jim Johnson and Alex Steed case for cruelty to animals continued to Jan 27. Tom Meredith found guilty of stealing clothes, six months in the workhouse with suspension on good behavior and monthly reports.

Mrs Colvert Dies in Richmond and Richmond

Mrs An na Kirkman Colvert died in Richmond from pneumonia. Born and raised locally, she married Samuel F Colvert of Statesville, with two children. Honest Census Probes Honesty Across New York

Magazine writer Moffett mailed 100 one dollar bills to 50 men and 50 women in New York to test honesty. Thirty three of the women returned the money while 31 of the men did.
