Brannocks Visit East Coast Parents of Seattle Church

Robert Brannock and his wife and daughter of Seattle visited W L Stamey in Winston and Dr E L Stamey in Greensboro before Washington City and Chicago then returned home. They belong to the First Presbyterian Church of Seattle with 15 000 members, a 20 000 seat main auditorium, many departments and a diverse membership.

Amendments Pass the House in High Point

Representative Dalton's bill amending High Point's charter passed the House and moves to the Senate. It calls for a March election on the amendments, cuts Councilmen Davis and Terry terms to two years, and shifts to nonpartisan elections with one councilman per ward. An amended plan would end two legislative holdovers. voters choosing both amendments oust them, otherwise Alexander and Davis stay.

Humane Society Report for 1916 Highlights Local Work

The High Point Humane Society under Mrs. R. C. Soyars reports 1916 activity including 62 members and 52 dues paid. They investigated 3 cases concerning children, prosecuted 8 animal cases with 5 convictions, suspended 10 horses and mules, provided shelter and food for one horse, issued 46 warnings after investigations, and prompted the city to install a drinking fountain near the depot. Mrs Richardson Dies Suddenly at Home on South Main

Mrs Dennis Richardson died Friday at her daughter’s home on South Main Street after rising from bed in apparent good health. Seven children survive including A C Richardson of Asheboro and Mrs Alfred Cox and Mrs Pearl Allman of Seagrove. Funeral services were Sunday at Flag Spring church Randolph County. H D Satterthwaite, Confederate veteran and father of Mrs C Dunbar, died at his Rawsonville home, first of the year.

Guilford County Medical Society elects officers and delegates

At a Greensboro meeting Dr. H. W. McCain was elected president and D. C. E. Reitzel became delegate. Dr. W. M. Jones finished close in the race for vice president, Dr. R. A. Schoonover was named secretary treasurer, and three delegates to the state house of delegates were chosen: Dr. J. A. Williams Dr. C E Reitzel and Dr. J. T. Battle. Alternates include Dr. C. W Moseley Dr Parran Jarboe and Dr. W. J. Meadows.
