J G Garland aged 60 collapsed from heart failure Saturday on East Green Street while returning home. Report from Washington details the Tuscania sinking off the Irish coast with 2179 soldiers aboard. 1912 officers and men are accounted for, with 267 American troops lost, and officials hope the missing list will shrink. Troops were mainly Wisconsin and Michigan National Guard, aboard a British convoyed liner.

Food official orders require retailers to sell flour only with one pound of designated substitutes pound for pound. Distribution limits set 48 pounds per person locally and 98 pounds regionally, plus sugar caps of 5 pounds locally and 10 pounds countrywide.

Mrs. Cummings Dead In Baltimore Hospital

Mrs. Mary Boone Cummins wife of C V Cummins of West Russell Street died at Hopkins Hospital Baltimore Tuesday after an operation. Funeral from her home tomorrow morning conducted by Rev. Charles P Coble. Husband and five children survive. Deceased described as a good woman.

Infant son ill with pneumonia in High Point

The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Jones is critically ill with pneumonia. W. L. Guyer bought J. L. Wood son's telephone on the Guyer line and will install it at his home. C. M.
