Well Known Man Dead At 57 In High Pointer Miller
Alphonso Hacey longtime High Pointer and miller died Thursday after a yearlong illness. He was 57. Wife and six children survive. Funeral services were held at First Baptist Church Sunday afternoon by Rev. James A. Clark. Interment followed in Oakwood cemetery.

During the Civil War era in Old Trinity a peculiar man named Tapscott from Tallahassee, Florida drew attention for eccentric behavior. He finished college in 1854 as the sole graduate of that year, faded into gloom, and eventually vanished from the town. After a long wandering period he was believed to have died, but a well rescue revealed only an old sock. years later he reappeared as a lawyer in Florida, paying debts and returning to favor.
