The Confederate veterans met at headquarters on a spring afternoon with rousing speeches by Dr. J T Karras Col D H Milton and Commander Tom Wood. They approved Herbert Field as Dame of Honor for the Washington reunion and chose Paul Stamey as camp mascot, with fundraising for uniforms and a lantern of gifts and a luncheon to follow.

Aged Citizen Zimri A Burns Dies in High Point
Zimri A Burns aged 79 and longtime High Point resident died after a lingering illness. A blacksmith by trade he once made coffins and crafted the coffin for the first burial in Oakwood cemetery. Funeral services were held on North Main Street conducted by Rev A G Dixon and Rev J M Hilliard with interment at Oakwood. Ten children survive from two marriages along with many grandchildren and relatives.
