Boiler Explosion At High Point Laundry Kills Fireman

Friday afternoon a boiler at High Point Steam Laundry exploded, killing Eli Ingram, a negro fireman, and wounding S S Martin, a white man related to Crowder Brothers. The blast tore the end of the building, sent debris across the site, and caused windows to shatter at nearby Union Supply Co. The cause was careless operation with cold water into hot coils. Martin, burned on face and hands, is recovering. Crowder Brothers escaped with minor damage and reassured by the incident.
