Trinity Community Notes Include Illnesses Moves and Visits

Mrs J J Welch is very ill this morning and friends hope for a turn in her favor. The Trinity book club met with Mrs W F Ellis with refreshments and a pleasant time. Wilfred Carr spoke at the High School on his return from France. Miss Hyde Leach sold her stock to Mr Reddick and will no longer operate the old store. John Ingram moved to the Jim White place on Johnson Street and plans to live in Trinity until fall. Merriman Crawford will move to Carford Lodge in North Trinity. A large gathering attended the missionary meeting in High Point with Bishop N W Darlington in attendance. The circulating library now supplements book club literature. Walter Crowson has been confined with flu for several days. Miss Bertie White is out after two weeks ill with flu. Mesdames Carpenter and Phillips attended the missionary meeting. Mesdames Peper and Alben visited friends in Trinity. Mrs Weeks of the Hotel has not been well. Aunt Annie Brown, esteemed by all, was buried Saturday. Attorney Bruce Craven and family wintered in New Smyrna, Florida and have not yet returned. Mr and Mrs John Brame of North Trinity plan to move to Winston-Salem soon. People are planting Irish Cobblers, the Trish potato variety, this season.

Mrs. A. Rothrock of Burlington sought help locating her husband who deserted his family. Police officer Ed Mungo used a photo to locate the man, then arrested him at a city carnival on abandonment and non support charges. The suspect wore civilian clothes when arrested, different from his army photo.

Death of Robi B White Jr After Long Illness

Robi B White Jr a popular young man of the city died Monday afternoon at his parents home on Lindsey street after a long illness from a complication of diseases. He was born July 11 1890 at Murfreesboro and lived here since childhood. He married Mary Plummer six months ago. Surviving are his wife, his mother and father three brothers and five sisters. He belonged to First Baptist church and High Point lodge 1155 Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. Funeral from 218 Lindsay street Wednesday afternoon by Rev James A Clarke. Interment at the local cemetery with pallbearers Brown Redding Bencini Kirkman Jarrett English.

Children Turn Crooks At Methodist Protestant Home

Vivian Vail of High Point returning from France recounts experiences with the 30th Division. He was wounded in action and narrowly escaped capture while delivering rations behind front lines. Vail describes a dangerous march through German lines with 11 men and a sergeant, their escape via shell holes and a ditch, and notes his wartime regard for Australian troops.
