Apple Show Crowns Massive Spokane Pie Feat
At the Fifth National Apple Show in Spokane last week, more than 3,000,000 apples filled about 2,000 exhibits. The Spokane boosters baked an enormous pie weighing 19 tons, using 500 bushels of apples, 1.25 tons of sugar, 500 pounds of spices, butter, eggs, lemons, salt, and 2,500 pounds of flour. It took 2.5 hours to cook and two hours to serve the crowd.
