Garnett Moore outlines new library rules at the Monticello Club to recover missing books and ensure fair access. Beginning March 1 borrowers pay five cents for ten days, then three cents daily fines, with replacement books after 30 days if unpaid. Also, fines block further borrowing and signing authority, and due dates are stamped in each book.
The Rev. Jesse H. Clay leads the church with Sunday school at 9 45 a m worship at 11 a m and evening service at 7 30 p m A B T U and Brotherhood meet at 6 15 p m Midweek prayer is Wednesday at 7 30 p m All employees are invited to attend any service.
The Rev. W. W. Arrowwood leads morning service at 11 o clock with the theme The Power of Prayer The Young People’s league meets at 645 p m in the church auditorium adjustments and further notices will be announced by the pastor.
The Rev. Faye G. Gibson pastor leads morning worship at 11 o clock. No evening service Sunday. Midweek service Wednesday at 7 30 p.m.
The Wytheville district of the Methodist church calls a February 28 meeting at First Methodist Pulaski at 7 30 p m to rally youth from six counties including Pulaski Montgomery Floyd Carroll Grayson and Wythe with expected attendance over 1000. Dr F L Gibbs leads speakers from district youth workers and delegates.
The Draper Blue Devils host the Pulaski Orioles in Draper's gym in a heated cage clash. Last meeting Draper beat Pulaski as Orioles faced ineligibles. Probable lineup includes Bill Bouldin Ralph Tester Charles Michele Louis Painter Jack Bolden and Kenneth Farmer may start.
The Virginia Maid Indians open their western district AAU title bid tonight in Roanoke Auditorium against the Lynchburg Y M C A quintet. The eight-man squad features E. T. Painter, Bill Harper, Boots Haskins, John Wagner, Gene Studebaker, Ray Rice, Paul Rice, Kinky Darnell and Wilson Burch.
Mr J H Fanning announces the marriage of his daughter Nancy to James Guy French on Friday January 16 1940. Dr Scott officiated with a ring ceremony. The couple will reside in Pulaski.
Charles Dyer Jr. notes H W Steger at work past hours at Paul Knitting Mills. Photos of Watts Steger in India Syria and Rutgers depict his travels and a senior year sketch. Visitors leave with warm impression amid Pulaski streets and a refreshed appetite.
At a student body meeting P H S announced a two week drive for less noise and confusion in the school. Garnett Phibbs, student body president, urged cooperation with posters outlining rules and noted teachers will not enforce the campaign. Also announced: Edward Carney Albert Folden Charles Michele Mary Lee Hudson Frances Plunkett and Margaret admitted to Beta club.
The Rev. J. P. Hughes leads Sunday school at 10 am and morning worship at 11. Evening worship follows at 7 30 pm. Prayer meeting and Bible study are Wednesday at 7 30 pm. YPE meets Saturday at 7 30 pm.
The Rev J Luther Mauney presides with Sunday school at 9 46 morning worship at 11 00 league meeting at 6 30 and evening worship at 7 30 The evening sermon centers on Hoffmans painting Christ in Gethsemane.
