Prof Massey confronts Maj Ragland over seed dispersal and government funding arguments. He defends adherence to law in seed introductions, denies opposing grassing, and accuses Ragland of misquoting Gen Le Duc while noting Ragland dodges the seed question. Plan for relief fund endorsed by Salem Alliance
At Salem Alliance No 1558 in Cresswell North Carolina on October 3 1891 the members endorsed a relief fund plan. Secretaries of sub alliances would send fifteen cents of quarterly dues with five cents to the State Secretary Treasurer for relief funds leaving ten cents in each treasury. The estimate suggests five cents on 100000 members equals 5000 dollars per quarter. The group indicates willingness to follow the majority if this plan fails.
