After a rousing Cincinnati session 1417 delegates from 27 states formed The People's Party of the United States. Ignatius Donnelly led the platform adoption toward a bold economic program and a national committee was chosen to press reform ahead of a February 22, 1892 conference.

May Belford's Magazine offerings span arts science and reform
A May issue summary notes pieces on the Thirteen Club superstition, women writers like Stanton Blake and Anthony, poetry by Sutphen Kinney Lummis, stories by Channing and Montfort, scientific essays by Oswald Ward Crookes and Bertillon, and editorial notes on tariff policy and state alliance readings. A travelogue on Southward money for invalids appears with a dubious ad about plating jobs promising easy earnings.
