Lane's Brigade hero credits Parker for saving his life at Spottsylvania
Gen James H Lane recounts the May 12 1864 battle near Spottsylvania Court House praising Private Peter A Parker of the 37th North Carolina Troops for saving his life. Parker, wounded in the thicket, received a furlough request approved by Lee Hill and Wilcox and later returned home with his mother. Lane notes Parker’s gallantry and assigns him credit in his official report.
