Free Railroad Passes Stir North Carolina Alliance
The Farmers State Alliance of North Carolina gathered at Morehead City on August 13, 1891 to condemn free railroad passes for lawmakers. A resolution directed the state secretary to ask Senators, Representatives, judges, and solicitors if they had used passes since election, with registered letters and publication if needed. A roster lists numerous officials asked to answer. The Rattler notes Nash County People’s Party primaries drew record turnout.
