Open Letter on North Carolina Executive Overreach 1895
An undated public missive from Hendersonville, March 20, 1895, to Governor Kias Carr criticizes his handling of a General Assembly action. The author accuses Carr of usurping authority, misdating ratification, withholding a commission, and engaging in partisan manipulation related to the appointment of Thomas A. Jones as Judge of the Criminal Circuit Court. The letter appeals to state honor and calls Carr unworthy of office amid political contention.
