The call invites out-of-town attendees to secure boarding and reasonable rates and hopes for wide North Louisiana participation. The Progress notes Lt R T Schindler of Co B 2nd Texas Regiment US Volunteers on furlough and awaiting muster out in Dallas after 30 days.

The Progress mourns Captain T Wood Lee son of Hon J M Lee of Monrow. He led the Pelican Rifles at Baton Rouge and commanded his company at Shreveport encampment. Atyphoid fever at Miami felled him. he died at home under care of his mother and father. May God comfort the bereaved family amid this noble soldier’s loss.
