Oldest Water Mill in Bardstown with Civil War Siege
An early Bardstown mill built soon after the Revolution stands in a valley beside Town Creek. It features a 28 foot overshot wheel, later updated with French burrs and a turbine that failed due to scant water. In 1863 Gen. John H Morgan’s raid led to a 48 hour siege with bullets marking the weathered walls.
