The Great Generation Task and the Sleep of David
A preacher urges immediate service to the living generation, stressing that 140 generations are past and 180 to come. He calls for practical deeds to feed and clothe the hungry, end drunkenness, and help the poor, arguing real change comes from personal faith and righteous living that inspires others. He ends with a vision of waking in heaven beside biblical figures, urged by the line: after he had served his generation by the will of God, he fell on sleep.
