The Sun Distance Measured By Aberration Observations
In a 19th century discourse, astronomers discuss the method of parallax and aberration to determine the Earth’s motion and the Sun’s distance. They cite measurements from transits and eclipses, compare Laplace and Le Verrier values, and acknowledge remaining uncertainties of perhaps one hundred thousand miles in the vast solar distance.
