Breeding Ewes for Spring Lambs
Farmers in northern states regard December as ideal for coupling ewes to yield spring lambs. Early ram introduction delays grass feeding, but those with ensilage can keep stock dry in cold weather. Some barn basements pair ewes in fall to drop lambs before Lent and market the later lambs around July Fourth for strong demand.
